First Byte Labs

About

Not an agency with a delivery department

We're a small firm of senior engineers who got tired of being “the technical resource” on projects that died of process.

So we started First Byte Labs with a short list of promises: you talk to the people doing the work, you see software within two weeks, and we leave you better off than we found you.

Between us we've built consumer apps, internal platforms, automation pipelines, and the unglamorous infrastructure that keeps them alive — for startups, scale-ups, and the occasional enterprise that let us in through a back door. We've also untangled enough inherited systems to stay humble about our own.

Most of our recent work is AI. Not a productized agent or a wrapper around a chatbot — but tools built around a specific workflow, with a human review step and a measurable win. Because a tool nobody trusts is a tool nobody uses.

Values

What we hold ourselves to

01

Say the thing

We'd rather lose a project to honesty than keep several by nodding along.

02

Sweat the small stuff

Naming, error states, how a load screen feels — that's where reputation is made.

03

Small on purpose

The people who approve the architecture are the same ones who write it.

04

Be told you're wrong

We've been wrong plenty. The fix is hearing it early, not late.

Process

How one project runs

Short enough to read over coffee. Long enough to be the entire plan.

01

A call about the problem

Not the tech. What you're building, for whom, and by when.

02

Scope on one page

What's in, what's out, what it costs, what it doesn't promise.

03

Building, visible weekly

Something real in front of you every week. No reveal-at-the-end.

04

A handover you can run

Tests, docs, and a team that doesn't panic when we leave.
